Why Mindfulness for Children?

Mindfulness is a skill everyone has. When we develop it, we create integration in the brain. This integration enables reduced mental and emotional suffering and overall healthier thinking.

Mindfulness is about bringing compassionate, non-judgmental awareness to our experiences. With this increased awareness, we learn to understand ourselves deeply and to respond to situations rather than react.

Mindfulness is a Life Skill

I believe we give our children a gift when we teach them this life skill early in life. Research over the last 30 years demonstrates that including Mindfulness practice in your child's routine will improve their focus, increase their ability to calm down, manage their impulses, and foster effective decision-making.

An adventure into mindfulness awaits

‘Jack, the Jack Pine’ is a beautifully illustrated and soothing story that gently unfolds a young girl's journey as she mindfully discovers the wonders of nature, with a particular focus on a delightful Jack Pine sapling. Together with her mother, she embarks on an exploration that deepens their appreciation for the natural world around them and teaches them about the profound interconnectivity of all living things. Following the story, parents will find a dedicated section that thoughtfully introduces several mindfulness exercises designed to enhance awareness and promote a sense of calm and connection.

Honing my Writing

My favourite part of writing is being able to share it with others. I am a ham with children, and I love seeing their eyes light up as I take on characters’ voices and bring a book to life.

When I discovered reading was a wonderful way to be mindful with my children, I knew I wanted to write about us in nature because I also realized they could relate to that from a sensory standpoint.

Like my artistic pursuits, writing has been an absolute joy.
